A Personal Update {It’s about time!}

Posted on October 2, 2011

I seriously can’t believe the last time I posted about myself and my family, my baby boy looked like this:

5 months later, my little chubba lub looks like this!

So much has happened in the last 5 months of this little guy joining our family.  Mostly for the better!

Braddock had a rough start at birth, and again at 6 weeks we were back in the hospital for 3 very long days.  He ended up catching Rotavirus. Which they didn’t figure out until day 3.  He had horribly bloody stools and would not eat.  I have NEVER been so scared in my entire life.  He was lethargic and not very responsive.  He was sent via ambulance from one hospital to a specialty hospital.  There after tests, and lots of blood work, and even a spinal tap it seemed we were never going to figure out what was wrong.  I don’t think I ever stopped praying while there.  But by some miracle, the doctor change we had on day 3 was our answer.  He felt the need to test him one more time, for this specific virus.  And sure enough!

Taking him home that night was the best feeling.

I’m happy to say that since then he has been completely healthy and happy!

We spent the rest of our summer moving from our little 2 bedroom apartment into a real home! Not our home, but one we are renting.  But HOME has earned a whole new meaning to us now.  2 floors with plenty of space for the 6 of us.  A fenced in yard that has been a huge blessing! I seriously have no clue how I handled 5 years in an apartment with 3 kids!

With a husband working 2 jobs,  the house has been my sole responsibility (which my OCDness LOVES!) so it definitely engulfed the rest of my summer :)   That is part of why my blog posts are sometimes super behind!  I am loving creating my own spaces though!

Check out my office!

Before- ewwww

After- YAY!

My Main Bathroom

Guess my boys room will be a post another day.  I thought I’d taken pics but nope! Oops :)

I celebrated my 30th Birthday! Woohoo!!! I seriously am SO excited for my 30′s. I’ve been looking forward to them for the last few years.  I think my 30′s will be my favorite decade!

Moving on to All My Children, ha ha – not the soap opera!  This is actually what I was going to blog Back to school photo shoot.  Anyone else dread school pictures? I do!!! So we always do our own. I highly recommend this to everyone.

I ventured out all by loneseome with all 4 kids in tow.  We headed to Wheeler Farm in Murray and headed to the backside where I knew there would be a lot less traffic.  I just let my kids roam free while I shot.  And in all honesty, it turned out to be my best shoot ever of my kiddos together! So sit back and enjoy!

How lucky am I? 4 Beautiful babes!

I had an absolute blast sharing an evening with this awesome girl celebrating her baptism! We went to a beautiful orchard and used up every last ounce of sunlight we could.

Zoee you are beautiful, smart and absolutely hilarious!

I’m not sure if it’s those adorable lips or his deep blue eyes that melt me the most!  Or maybe it’s because he is my nephew ;)   Who happens to just be 2 days older than my baby Braddock.  Little Luke here is a doll! We went up to Logan in June for his blessing so I stole him for a quick mini session.  He hammed it up of course! I wish I’d nabbed a picture of him with his four, yes FOUR older brothers.  They all look so alike it’s uncanny!  Beautiful boys with blonde hair and big blue eyes.

Now, back to this adorable baby boy!

I LOVE his little expressions! It’s almost as if he’s saying “you want me to what? Get real woman!” ha ha haaa

An adorable boy and an adorable cowboy room!

Jared and I go way back.  Over ten years in fact.  He is my husbands little brother after all!

I am so grateful I got to be a part of his and Marie’s special day.

I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and love.

Born May 7th

weighing in @ 6lbs 5oz

19 inches long

This beautiful TINY precious baby girl belongs to my dear friend Tonii. You may remember her….

Yep, She had her baby the very next day after we shot her maternity pictures!

I realize this post is a few weeks late, but that’s what happens when you move and have to unearth your office! :)

back to Miss Avrie

She is an absolute doll. She has stolen the hearts of her siblings as well as her parents. Ok, and mine too!

And she was a dream to shoot.

Congrats to you guys! What a beautiful family you have!

I feel so lucky to be friends with this amazing gal.  Not only is she an awesome mom, who I connect with on all sorts of levels, and our kids all play together awesomely,  AND she is an awesome friend. (Can you use the word “awesome” too much???)

She is always willing to be my guinea pig :)    Letting me try out all sorts of crazy ideas, even when I have no clue if they will work.  See, when you are my subject, I can get a little, umm how would I say this…. demanding? ha haaa.  I know what I want, and I run with it.  Tonii here always lets me :) I feel so spoiled! I took over when I saw her GORGEOUS purple shirt and how her eyes popped, so I did her make up really bold to accentuate it.   Then threw on the bold contrasting jewelry to bring out the color of her eyes.  Needless to say, we had a blast at this shoot from start to finish.

Tonii you are radiant. And you make 36 weeks and 3 days of pregnancy look so easy and carefree.

You always have the most fabulous shoes!

You could not have rocked this shot any more! AMAZING!!!!

You prove that pregnancy is very sexy.

I know, she’s ridiculously gorgeous right?

Thanks for always being willing to try my crazy ideas Tonii! You are one awesome chic! Love ya!

PS- and thanks for laughing with me as I shot you one handed while holding my crying 3 week old baby! :D Yes, we moms are THAT multi-talented!

The fun didn’t end here. Nope.

The very next day Tonii gave birth to this BEAUTIFUL baby girl.

And that post is coming up soon!!!

Without a doubt, the most awesome part of doing what I do, is getting to share in peoples lives. Getting to be a part of those moments that are so special and so defining.  This was no exception.  I have had the privilege of knowing Marci and Stu for many years.  My husband and hers grew up together, so through marriage we all became friends.  I watched as years went by of them struggling to become pregnant. I watched their complete joy as Marci went through a  very difficult pregnancy and they were blessed with their beautiful boy.  Then again the struggles of trying to conceive again.  My heart ached for them.  Despite my 7 miscarriages, I couldn’t even imagine how they felt. I at least have been blessed with my (then 3) children! They began the hard, long process of fertility drugs, and IUI insemination. It didn’t work.  They again tried a second IUI insemination, and it worked! Not only did it work, but they were pregnant with twins!!!!  I can not even begin to tell you, as a friend, the joy I felt when I heard their news.  They are so deserving of that amazing miracle!

Now, I am VERY late on blogging this session. . .

In the beginning of March, at 34 weeks, we did a home maternity session.  Marci is absolutely glowing and gorgeous.  Surrounded by her boys she stands out as the amazing mother and wife that she is.

In the end of March, after 37 weeks of a beautiful, healthy pregnancy, they welcomed their new twin baby girls into this world! And I can’t wait to get my hands on them for pictures next week!!! :)

Congratulations Marci & Stu, your family is absolutely beauitful and priceless. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives.  You are awesome friends and I couldn’t be any happier for you!

Love,

Hollie

I know right? I am so lucky that I get to photograph such gorgeous people!

Jayme and Brandon are a match made in heaven. One of those couples that just flows together. They have more than just their obvious great looks going for them.  Genuinely sweet and kind.  Laughter that is infectious, and smiles that go on for miles.

We got away from the cold outdoor weather and went inside the Salt Lake City Capitol building.  The dark overcast skies outside made shooting natural light a tad tricky but I could not be happier with the turn out!  We just bumped up that ISO and spent the afternoon playing and laughing and having an awesome time!

RAWR!

Jayme- you are such a natural beauty!

A little personal touch. Brandon proposed with handcuffs! So, how could we not include them? :)

I am so happy for these two. Not just for them, but for their new family they are starting together.  Both of them coming from marriages before, these two are each blessed with two beautiful children of their own.  Doubling their family, doubling their joy.  The kids are already best friends, you would never know seeing them interact that they were not all siblings already!

They make one big happy family {LOVE}

So of course we had to throw in a second mini session to get them all together!  Sleepy Ridge Golf Course provided a gorgeous setting!

I am so excited for your new journey! I can not wait to see where life takes you and your beautiful family!!!

What I have been up to

Posted on April 20, 2011

A little of this and a little of that,

But a whole lot of this:

We welcomed into the world our precious baby Braddock Dean

Born April 16th

7lbs 10 oz of pure sweetness

As of yesterday at 3 days old

After a scary start to his life with some breathing problems, he is now home and thriving. And we are all so happy and grateful he is here.

I suppose it’s because it is fast approaching 3am here, and my 35 weeks of pregnancy has caught up with me, that I have been inspired to make this session my next share.

I have had the privilege of knowing Kate and Will for several years now.  A couple full of talent and tenderness.  For the years I have known them they have always wanted children.   Like many couples, this did not come as they had hoped and tried for.  I sat and watched as they struggled.  I felt pangs of guilt as I was blessed with 2 more of my own as they fought to get even one.

I watched as they went into foster parenting and when things looked so great for adopting, it came crashing down. I wanted to cry for them.

Then I cheered  AND cried at the news spread of their own miraculous joy!  Could this really be happening? Indeed it was!

Kate and Will.  You are both so sweet and so beautiful.  Words cannot express to you, what my heart feels seeing you get that chance to be parents to your own beautiful little girl. So deserving you both are.

Kate you emanate every ounce of the word RADIANT
