A Personal Update {It’s about time!}

Posted on October 2, 2011

I seriously can’t believe the last time I posted about myself and my family, my baby boy looked like this:

5 months later, my little chubba lub looks like this!

So much has happened in the last 5 months of this little guy joining our family.  Mostly for the better!

Braddock had a rough start at birth, and again at 6 weeks we were back in the hospital for 3 very long days.  He ended up catching Rotavirus. Which they didn’t figure out until day 3.  He had horribly bloody stools and would not eat.  I have NEVER been so scared in my entire life.  He was lethargic and not very responsive.  He was sent via ambulance from one hospital to a specialty hospital.  There after tests, and lots of blood work, and even a spinal tap it seemed we were never going to figure out what was wrong.  I don’t think I ever stopped praying while there.  But by some miracle, the doctor change we had on day 3 was our answer.  He felt the need to test him one more time, for this specific virus.  And sure enough!

Taking him home that night was the best feeling.

I’m happy to say that since then he has been completely healthy and happy!

We spent the rest of our summer moving from our little 2 bedroom apartment into a real home! Not our home, but one we are renting.  But HOME has earned a whole new meaning to us now.  2 floors with plenty of space for the 6 of us.  A fenced in yard that has been a huge blessing! I seriously have no clue how I handled 5 years in an apartment with 3 kids!

With a husband working 2 jobs,  the house has been my sole responsibility (which my OCDness LOVES!) so it definitely engulfed the rest of my summer :)   That is part of why my blog posts are sometimes super behind!  I am loving creating my own spaces though!

Check out my office!

Before- ewwww

After- YAY!

My Main Bathroom

Guess my boys room will be a post another day.  I thought I’d taken pics but nope! Oops :)

I celebrated my 30th Birthday! Woohoo!!! I seriously am SO excited for my 30′s. I’ve been looking forward to them for the last few years.  I think my 30′s will be my favorite decade!

Moving on to All My Children, ha ha – not the soap opera!  This is actually what I was going to blog Back to school photo shoot.  Anyone else dread school pictures? I do!!! So we always do our own. I highly recommend this to everyone.

I ventured out all by loneseome with all 4 kids in tow.  We headed to Wheeler Farm in Murray and headed to the backside where I knew there would be a lot less traffic.  I just let my kids roam free while I shot.  And in all honesty, it turned out to be my best shoot ever of my kiddos together! So sit back and enjoy!

How lucky am I? 4 Beautiful babes!

Without a doubt, the most awesome part of doing what I do, is getting to share in peoples lives. Getting to be a part of those moments that are so special and so defining.  This was no exception.  I have had the privilege of knowing Marci and Stu for many years.  My husband and hers grew up together, so through marriage we all became friends.  I watched as years went by of them struggling to become pregnant. I watched their complete joy as Marci went through a  very difficult pregnancy and they were blessed with their beautiful boy.  Then again the struggles of trying to conceive again.  My heart ached for them.  Despite my 7 miscarriages, I couldn’t even imagine how they felt. I at least have been blessed with my (then 3) children! They began the hard, long process of fertility drugs, and IUI insemination. It didn’t work.  They again tried a second IUI insemination, and it worked! Not only did it work, but they were pregnant with twins!!!!  I can not even begin to tell you, as a friend, the joy I felt when I heard their news.  They are so deserving of that amazing miracle!

Now, I am VERY late on blogging this session. . .

In the beginning of March, at 34 weeks, we did a home maternity session.  Marci is absolutely glowing and gorgeous.  Surrounded by her boys she stands out as the amazing mother and wife that she is.

In the end of March, after 37 weeks of a beautiful, healthy pregnancy, they welcomed their new twin baby girls into this world! And I can’t wait to get my hands on them for pictures next week!!! :)

Congratulations Marci & Stu, your family is absolutely beauitful and priceless. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives.  You are awesome friends and I couldn’t be any happier for you!

Love,

Hollie

I know right? I am so lucky that I get to photograph such gorgeous people!

Jayme and Brandon are a match made in heaven. One of those couples that just flows together. They have more than just their obvious great looks going for them.  Genuinely sweet and kind.  Laughter that is infectious, and smiles that go on for miles.

We got away from the cold outdoor weather and went inside the Salt Lake City Capitol building.  The dark overcast skies outside made shooting natural light a tad tricky but I could not be happier with the turn out!  We just bumped up that ISO and spent the afternoon playing and laughing and having an awesome time!

RAWR!

Jayme- you are such a natural beauty!

A little personal touch. Brandon proposed with handcuffs! So, how could we not include them? :)

I am so happy for these two. Not just for them, but for their new family they are starting together.  Both of them coming from marriages before, these two are each blessed with two beautiful children of their own.  Doubling their family, doubling their joy.  The kids are already best friends, you would never know seeing them interact that they were not all siblings already!

They make one big happy family {LOVE}

So of course we had to throw in a second mini session to get them all together!  Sleepy Ridge Golf Course provided a gorgeous setting!

I am so excited for your new journey! I can not wait to see where life takes you and your beautiful family!!!

A family full of boys! I love it! Shy at first, these boys couldn’t fool me! You see, I have 4 older brothers, I know how they work ;)

They were so cooperative throughout the shoot. And trust me, I asked a lot of them.  hee hee  Of course, when you tell them they get to have a balloon fight, it most certainly helps!

A super family that gave me a super fun evening!

Don’t tell me they don’t know the word FIERCE

These beautiful big brown eyes melted my heart!

It may have taken 2 days of shooting (Babies run the show ya know!) but it was worth every final shot.  Even Evelyns sweet little pout face was absolute perfection! It also helps that Mom and Dad are completely wrapped around her little finger and smitten as can be.  :) Thanks Emi and Brandon for letting me spend time with your precious girl! You are a beautiful family!

Have you noticed how gorgeous it is outside? I sure have! Slightly cooler temps, gorgeous sunlight, green trees… It is the perfect time of year for portraits. And trust me, it isn’t going to last! The month of September is going to be stunning!

So in celebration of the beautiful look Utah is giving us right now, the start of school, and my birthday (yes, I am celebrating, despite the fact that it is on Saturday and my wisdom teeth are being pulled Friday, I will celebrate!) I am having  all out specials on every session!

Let’s start with what seems to be the hot item right now :) Back to school! Did I mention that my oldest is starting Kindergarten? Don’t worry, I am not the cry over it type of mom. Instead I am thinking of what all I can get done in that whole 2.5 hours she is gone. hee hee

It really is right around the corner.  Right now it is gorgeous for pictures! Sure, you can chance trying to get those perfect fall leaves shots- which you will only have one good week where the weather is actually perfect for that. Or you can brave the frosty winds and snow for those wintery shots. Which I actually LOVE, but not many do :) But now, really is, the right time!

I have to admit, I am a bit of a gush over this session! It all started with talk of the perfect family portrait, one that reflects your style, but in a cool, I wish I was that person, way. Then it just sort of evolved from there.  See, Tonii and I are kinda like sisters, in a non-blood-related-way. We are so alike in so many ways.  Our husbands are awesome friends and so are our kids. She is an amazing person and an amazing mother. She is beautiful and has the personality to follow.

So knowing I was taking her family pictures, I searched and drove, and drove, and searched,  for the ultimate spot.  When I saw this old roof peeking through the tree tops I had to sneak a peek. I drove in and literally sighed outloud. It was destiny! And it was beyond perfect!

To test it out I took my 3 kids for a session there (that post is coming too!) Yes, I fell even more in love with this old house.

I had to take Tonii to see it. So we met up for a day of location checking and outfit shopping. The moment she saw it, she was head over heels like I was.

We spent 2 days shopping for the perfect outfits. Completely changed our minds from a soft antique feel, to more bold and colorful. Totally not the direction we saw ourselves going, but when we saw the kids skirts, and her belt, there was no choice! Yes, her belt. You will see :)

She made awesome ornaments for the girls hair, we got little man a tie, and I made her feather earrings and a hair piece. Just a touch of flair!

And the outcome? Well, I could not be any happier.

That is why you get to see a million pictures in this post. I couldn’t make myself narrow it down!

Thanks Paul and Tonii for an awesome evening with your amazingly gorgeous family! You guys are the best! And I mean that in every way!

I had to start this looksee with the most gorgeous couple that belongs in a movie :) I mean, that is where a family starts right?

These 2 stunning people created the following 3 adorable and precious babies!

And together they gave me this…

(Did you see moms belt?)

Of course, every session is full of laughing moments

I know, I know! I have disappeared again! Bet you can’t guess why? Yep, computer issues. Again. Maybe it’s not so much the computer as it is me :)

It figures that I have a completely new computer built and the one thing we did NOT replace, the video card, fried out.  And big time too. LOL

But alas, we can rest easy now. It is all shiny and new!

So I have SO much to catch up on here now! So stay tuned for some awesome posts and stories!

But since I am running late this morning to my appointment,

I will leave you with this:

There is so much to love about a young girl who has enveloped herself in the world of dance.  It was a perfect, and I mean PERFECT day for this session. The cloud cover gave me that extra dramatic lighting I wanted, mixed with periods of peeking sunshine. Miss K was a dream to shoot! Thanks so much for letting me spend my evening in bliss!

This past week was a week of boys, and I loved it! From the Urban 4 yr old to a tiny country boy. It was awesome!

Meet little Isaac.

My dear friends sweet little 4 month old. A precious gift indeed. This little angel was born with a rare condition called sagittal lamdoid cranial synostosis. In easier terms, 3 out of 6 of his soft spots on his skull fused shut before birth, leaving no where for his brain to grow.  He will be undergoing a 5 hour long surgery this week to take out his skull and replace it with dissolvable spacers and screws.

This happy , healthy  boy ( literally, he is the size of my 15 month old!) was a joy to photograph! Even without his nap, he still made goo goo eyes with his big blues at the camera. And my camera LOVES him! He was happy no matter how I tortured him :)

Even baby drool is so darn cute!
